The Real Reason Investors Aren't Funding Your Business (And How to Fix It) | Cynthia A. Davis

Cynthia A. Davis has spent decades in rooms where multimillion-dollar decisions are made. At GE Aerospace, Bausch + Lomb, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, she learned what separates a convincing proposal from one that holds up under scrutiny.

Today, as founder of CapitalQuest, she is bringing that perspective to entrepreneurs who want to raise capital. Her question is simple: do you know how an investor sees your business?

Belinda Bradford talks to Cynthia about funding readiness, high-stakes negotiations, the AI tools reshaping founder preparation and the decisions that took her from corporate leadership to building her own companies.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Why a great pitch story is not the same as being ready for investment

  • How to assess your business through the eyes of an investor

  • The founder behaviour that can make investors hesitate

  • When to bring advisors into the capital-raising process

  • How CapitalQuest combines AI with strategic reasoning and investor perspectives

  • What Cynthia learned turning around a $500 million business division

  • Why strong relationships can be worth more than winning a negotiation

  • How Cynthia found confidence in male-dominated boardrooms

  • Why she left an established corporate career to build something herself
